Today I started a new blog designed to help people learn the basics of computer programming. I feel very strongly that everyone should be familiar with at least the basic concepts. After all, you're on a computer right now, aren't you?
Have you ever wished there were a program that could solve a problem for you? Ever wished that a program could save you hours of tedious data entry or manipulation? You'd be amazed at what you can do with just a short Python script!
A computer program is like a machine to solve a specific tasks. If you can't find a program that suits your needs, you can build one. You might even find yourself creating code that can solve a variety of problems and save you time on the job. If you work with data of any kind (especially in spreadsheets), odds are you could benefit from knowing a thing or two about programming.
